Signing of the Sister-City Memorandum of Understanding Between Bandar Abbas and Mombasa

On the sidelines of the Seventh Session of the Iran–Kenya Joint Commission on Cooperation, a bilateral meeting was held between H.E. Eng. Mehdi Nobani, Mayor of Bandar Abbas, and H.E. Mr. Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, Governor of Mombasa County. Following their discussions, the two sides signed and exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding establishing a sister-city partnership between Bandar Abbas and Mombasa.

During the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their readiness to deepen cooperation under the framework of the MoU and highlighted the historical interactions between the two regions spanning centuries. Mayor Nobani presented an engaging video showcasing the tourism and investment potential of Bandar Abbas, and formally delivered the official invitation from H.E. Mr. Mohammad Ashouri, Governor of Hormozgan Province, addressed to his Kenyan counterpart.

In response, Governor Nassir expressed his appreciation for the invitation and extended a reciprocal invitation to Mayor Nobani to visit Mombasa during the same mission. However, due to time constraints, the visit could not be accommodated.
