Meeting#160 between Vice president of I.R. Iran with Pakistan’s Minister of Climate Change and Environment

on bilateral environmental cooperation

 

On the sidelines of UNEA-7, Dr. Shina Ansari met with H.E. Mr. Musaddiq Masood Malik, Minister of Climate Change and Environment of Pakistan. During the meeting, both sides outlined their positions and reviewed the latest status of UNEA-7 documents, while also discussing prospects for bilateral environmental cooperation.

Key topics of discussion included joint efforts to combat dust storms, cooperation on air pollution control, biodiversity protection, and combating wildlife trafficking. The restoration of Hamoun Wetland—recognized as a critical factor in reducing dust storms in the region—was also highlighted.

The two sides further exchanged views on establishing a genetic bank for animal species, sharing information and experiences to improve agricultural efficiency, and developing modern irrigation technologies in the agricultural sector.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties expressed readiness to update the Memorandum of Understanding on environmental cooperation between Iran and Pakistan, agreeing to place this initiative on their future agenda.
