Iran Visa Application: Procedures and Steps
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Nairobi wishes to stress that enlisting the services of an intermediary or recruitment agent of any kind is not necessary for acquiring any kind of visa. Consulate Section of the embassy will facilitate the issueance of all types of visa, for applicants and their dependents. To avoid any abuse by intermediary, we strongly advise prudence and caution in entering contacts with aforementioned intermediaries.
General Applicants (All Kenyan Passport Holders)
All holders of the Republic of Kenya passports must first register their application on the e-Visa system at the address: https://evisa.mfa.ir and receive a tracking code.
1- Online Registration: Apply via the official e-Visa portal and obtain your tracking code.
2- Notification & Appointment: After your application is approved, the consular section of the representative office will contact you to schedule an appointment.
3- In-Person Visit: Visit the representative office with the required documents to follow up on your request.
4- Required Documents:
- Original Passport (with a minimum of 6 months validity).
- Printed image of the tracking code.
Applicants for Pilgrimage/Tourism
Applicants intending to travel to the Islamic Republic of Iran for pilgrimage must register their request under the "Tourism Visa" category on the e-Visa system: https://evisa.mfa.ir.
- Required Uploads:
- In the "Residence Card" section: Upload a clear single file containing: Hotel reservation / Image of the host's residence card and Round-trip ticket (regarding ticket, if it is possible to book).
- In the "ID Card" section: Upload an image of your Kenya residence card.
Applicants with an Invitation (Business, Official, etc.)
Applicants who intend to travel to Iran based on an invitation from an individual, company, institution, organization, or ministry must apply through their host in Iran.
- Host's Action: The host must submit the application online within Iran via the e-Visa system: https://evisa.mfa.ir and receive a tracking code.
- Required Uploads by Host: Image of the applicant's passport, invitation letter or host's residence card, and/or image of the round-trip ticket.
Applicants through Iranian Tourist Agencies
Following the receipt of their visa authorization by the representative office and subsequent contact from the consular section, these applicants can visit the office to collect their visa.
- Documents for Collection: Original Passport and Printed tracking code.
Important Considerations
- Completeness and Accuracy: Applicants must complete all fields of the application form in the e-Visa system accurately and completely. Failure to correctly and fully enter information (including phone numbers, emails, addresses in and outside Iran), and failure to correctly upload photos, passport images, and other required documents (such as the residence card) will prevent the application from being processed.
- Visa Fee Payment: Applicants must obtain a prior appointment and visit the representative office in person to pay the visa fee. Payment can be made via M-Pesa or Cash.
- Collection Location: Applicants must select the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Nairobi as the place of visa collection on the e-Visa system.
- Mandatory Presence: The presence of the visa applicant at the Consulate General is mandatory.
- Passport Validity: The applicant's passport must have a minimum of 6 months validity.
