The seventh session of the Joint Commission on Cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Kenya was convened on August 12–13, 2025, in Nairobi, hosted by the Government of Kenya. The Iranian delegation was led by H.E. Dr. Gholamreza Nouri, Minister of Agricultural Jahad. In contrast, the Kenyan delegation was headed by H.E. Dr. Musalia Mudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.
During the session, both sides engaged in comprehensive discussions on a wide range of bilateral areas of cooperation, including political relations, multilateral cooperation, high-level visits—particularly the president’s state visits—trade enhancement, and the promotion of cultural ties between the two friendly nations.
The session culminated in the signing of a joint communiqué alongside the Agreed Minutes of the session. In total, seven Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed, covering cooperation in the following areas:
Health
Diplomatic Training
Housing and Urban Development
Investment Promotion
Electricity and Renewable Energy
Sister-city partnership between Bandar Abbas and Mombasa
Establishment of a Joint Business Committee between the Chambers of Commerce of both countries
In parallel with the Commission, the Iran–Kenya Business Forum was held over two days, featuring broad participation from companies across both nations. The forum focused on fostering effective private-sector engagement through structured B2B meetings.
On the third day, delegates visited a coffee production facility, providing Iranian companies with direct exposure to Kenya’s coffee sector and facilitating meaningful interactions with local stakeholders.
