The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran has the honor to announce that in the early hours of Friday, June 13, 2025, the rogue and occupying Zionist regime, in blatant violation of the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran, launched unprovoked and heinous attacks on several locations—including residential areas in Tehran and other cities. These assaults martyred a number of the noblest, most patriotic servants of the nation in the fields of defense, science, and technology, along with other innocent civilians. The Embassy expresses its condolences to the Supreme Leader and the noble people of Iran on the martyrdom of these defenders and servants of the nation who sacrificed their lives in the face of the unforgivable crimes of the Zionist regime. The Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns this brutal terrorist act, which constitutes a blatant and flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter, international law, and a significant threat to regional peace and security. The attacks by the Zionist regime on Iran constitute a violation of Article 2, Paragraph 4 of the United Nations Charter and represent a clear act of aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran. Under Article 51 of the UN Charter, responding to this aggression is Iran’s legitimate and legal right, and the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate to defend the nation's sovereignty with full strength and by any means they deem appropriate. As a founding member of the United Nations—an organization whose very purpose is to prevent aggression, breaches of peace, and threats to global stability—the Islamic Republic of Iran emphasizes the Security Council’s responsibility to act swiftly in response to this violation of international peace and security resulting from the blatant aggression of the Zionist regime against Iran. The international community, along with the United Nations, must denounce this violation and take firm action to address and rectify this transgression. All UN member states—particularly regional and Islamic countries, members of the Non-Aligned Movement, and all states that value international peace and security—are expected to immediately condemn this criminal act of aggression and take urgent, collective measures to confront this dangerous adventurism, which undoubtedly places global peace and security under unprecedented threat. The dangerous and far-reaching consequences of the Zionist regime’s aggression against our beloved homeland, Iran, will rest squarely on the shoulders of this regime and its supporters. Such acts of aggression by the Zionist regime could not have occurred without coordination with and approval from the United States. Therefore, the U.S. government, as the primary backer of this regime, must also be held accountable for the grave consequences of the Zionist regime’s reckless actions.
