Meeting with the Chair of the Senate Committee on Justice Legal Affairs and Human Rights

Iranian Ambassador H.E. Dr. Ali Gholampour met with Senator Wakili Hillary Sigei, Chair of the Senate Committee on Justice, Legal Affairs, and Human Rights, for discussions on justice, legal affairs, and human rights. At the meeting, Ambassador Gholampour affirmed Iran's commitment to human rights, stating that respect for human dignity is central to Iranian traditions and Islamic values. He asserted Iran's dedication to justice, equality, and non-discrimination, highlighting its engagement with UN human rights mechanisms and its willingness to collaborate internationally to promote these principles. Dr. Gholampour highlighted Iranian women's remarkable progress, noting their majority representation in healthcare (over 50%) and universities (over 56%). He emphasized advancements in empowering women through appointments to prominent judicial and governmental roles, reflecting their vital societal contributions. Senator Sigei welcomed the Iranian delegation, underscoring Kenya's commitment to open dialogue on legal and human rights. He affirmed Kenya's belief in partnerships that promote mutual understanding and acknowledged Iran's engagement with international human rights bodies, advocating for increased bilateral cooperation in legal and judicial development. The meeting reaffirmed Iran and Kenya's strong diplomatic relationship and their commitment to enhanced collaboration on justice and human rights to benefit both countries.
